Year 2

This term in Year 2, we are working hard across a range of subjects.

In Maths, we are focussing on place value, helping the children understand the value of digits in two-digit numbers, alongside developing their skills in addition and subtraction. We are also going to be exploring the properties of 2D and 3D shapes and working with money, learning to recognise coins, make different amounts, and give change.

In our Topic lessons, we are studying the Oceans and Seas, where children learned about marine life and environmental conservation around the waters of the world, before looking at The Great Fire of London, exploring the historical events and their significance.

Our English work is closely linked to these topics, with children writing fact files about sea creatures and diary entries inspired by the events of 1666.

In Science, we are learning about different animals, their habitats, and diets, investigating the properties of materials, and exploring the growth and structure of plants through hands-on activities.

It's going to be a fun and enriching term, full of exciting learning opportunities!
